East African Journal of Mathematics

The East African Journal of Mathematics is committed to ensuring equitable access to scholarly publishing for all mathematicians, regardless of geographic or economic circumstances.

Waiver Structure

No article processing charges (APCs) for corresponding authors affiliated with African institutions. This includes authors from all African countries, regardless of their country's economic classification.

Authors from non-African institutions: Standard APC of $500 USD applies.

Full Waiver Eligibility

Beyond the continental waiver, full APC waivers are automatically granted to:

• Authors from countries classified as low-income by the World Bank
• Authors demonstrating exceptional financial hardship (supporting documentation required)
• Student authors pursuing graduate degrees (proof of enrollment required)
• Authors from institutions in conflict or post-conflict zones

Application Process

To request a waiver consideration:

1. Submit your manuscript through the normal submission process
2. Include a waiver request letter explaining your circumstances
3. Provide supporting documentation (institutional affiliation, student status, etc.)
4. Waiver decisions are made within 5 business days of manuscript acceptance

EAJM operates on a non-profit basis. All waiver decisions are made to advance mathematical research across Africa and ensure that financial constraints never prevent the dissemination of quality research.
