NAIROBI, Kenya – In celebration of the International Day of Mathematics, the Open University of Kenya (OUK) is set to host a pivotal webinar focusing on innovative digital tools for STEM education. The virtual event, scheduled for 14th March 2026 at 1:00 PM (EAT) , will explore the use of the STACK system for online teaching and assessment.
Titled "STACK as a tool for Online Teaching and Assessment of Mathematics and Other STEM Courses," the session will feature a presentation by Professor Chris Sangwin from the University of Edinburgh. Prof. Sangwin is the original developer of STACK, the leading open-source technology for computer-aided assessment in mathematics.
He will be joined by co-presenter Dr. Michael Obiero, Chairperson of the Africa STACK Community, who will provide insights into the system's application and growing adoption across the continent.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Beth Kiratu, Dean of the School of Science and Technology at the Open University of Kenya.
The event underscores OUK's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance remote learning and assessment in the sciences.
